Embarking on a process of greater self-understanding can be a daunting task at first but life always offers moments where such a journey calls us. The question then becomes one of courage and urgency: are we ready to engage and discover our truth or not?

Regardless of our background, current professional and personal situation, life presents challenges to all of us, more than ever at these current times. Most of us live lives that are too busy and we find ourselves struggling to juggle all our to-do's and want-to-do’s. On top of this, we might encounter particular difficulties at work or in our relationship. All of this can leave us feeling rather exhausted over time, lacking the energy and time to look deeper.

Psychotherapy means to 'nurse the soul'

Why Counselling or Therapy?

Psychotherapy literally means to 'nurse the soul'; deriving its name from the ancient Greeks and their understanding of human nature and the psyche. At times in our lives we’re facing challenges that deserve some extra attention. A significant event, such as bereavement or a relationship break-up, might trigger us to seek counselling or therapy. Or there could be a desire to identify and break unhealthy patterns of behaviour. One needn't even be clear about ones reasons for starting counselling - many people experience a general sense of unhappiness, sadness, anxiety or dissatisfaction and use our work together as a way of finding out what these feelings might mean and how to overcome them. In short, there are no 'right' or 'wrong' reasons - you and the precious subjects you’d like to explore deserve warm, genuine and safe care.

What to expect from Counselling and Therapy?

Counselling and Psychotherapy are both 'talking therapies', or in other words, conversations that attempt to help us make sense of our lives. Counselling and therapy consists of weekly sessions at a regular day/time each week. The period of time we work together depends on what you wish to resolve and develop in your life. What you choose to share is confidential. You do not need a referral from a GP to see a private counsellor or therapist.

What would a typical Counselling/Therapy session look like?

Different people have different needs in therapy and our approach is to use appropriate techniques according to your specific challenges. We use an integrative approach, which means we are experienced in working with several philosophies. In our case, we draw from a holistic range of theoretical backgrounds: Humanistic / Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Psycho-dynamic, Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt/Somatic Experiencing, Jungian Psychotherapy, Transpersonal Psychology & Psychotherapy and Existential approaches. This enables us to offer the type of therapy, or combination of therapies, that is most appropriate for your unique needs.

We combine our thinking mode (head), our emotions (heart) and our intuition (‘gut’ feeling) to solve and transform your challenges. We work intuitively and have a natural interest in Mindfulness, Spirituality, Dream Analysis, artwork, Creative Imagination, Buddhism, Meditation and Guided Visualisations and use these in our work, depending on the wishes of you as our client.

We secure a non-judgemental space, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, politics, culture or nationality.

Vitalis Counselling & Therapy is based in London for face-to-face sessions and also offers remote telephone and online counselling and therapy.

Our therapists are also experienced Life, Career & Executive Coaches and can support you in the more practical and pragmatic side of overcoming your challenges and manifesting the change you want in your life.
