Anniek is an Artistic Therapist registered in the UK with the governing body CAHSC and the professional association AATA. She has worked as a therapist for over 15 years and is still fascinated by each client’s unique process and courage to welcome change, self-development and improvement.
She has worked and still works with adults and children with a wide range of issues such as trauma, learning difficulties, loss, anxiety and depression. She facilitates workshops and courses in London and overseas (Bali!) and works with businesses on optimising creativity and productivity of their workforce.
Anniek has an interest in anything to do with the mind, which currently includes the practice of mindfulness, yoga, meditation and research into perception, habits, conditioning, symbolism and colour experience to name a few. She is also an exhibiting artist creating paintings, sculptures and installations.
Artistic therapy brings together art making and psychology allowing a client to communicate their thoughts, experiences and difficult emotions in a non-verbal manner. Materials such as paint, pastels, pencils and clay are available for you to work with. You will be guided step by step through the artistic process, it being a painting, collage, drawing or clay sculpture. You don’t have to worry about your artistic talents when coming to an artistic therapy session for the first time. There is no need to be an artist or have any experience with art making to participate in or benefit from art therapy sessions. By creating artworks and reflecting on them, clients can increase awareness of self and others, cope with symptoms, stress and traumatic experiences; enhance cognitive abilities and support a recovery process.
Anniek loves the creative process and can't imagine a life without it.
Anniek works in English and Dutch.
