In order to decide if you'd like to receive Career Coaching by Vitalis Coaching (based in London), you might want to know what the coaching process entails. The information below is a possible outline and the purpose is to give you an idea about how we work. Subjects can be deleted or extended, depending on your unique situation. The exact approach will be adjusted according to your wishes and needs during the Career Guidance Coaching process.
What would you like to get out of the Career Coaching process? What wishes do you have regarding your professional development? Where would you like to be in one year and in five years? These answers can be found by asking you certain coaching questions and/or we could do a NLP exercise called 'the time line'. What are the steps you need to take (and when) to reach the career path we are aiming for? We could, if needed, look at some practical aspects: The current state of your CV, networking possibilities, interview skills, cover letter, etc.
This is particularly useful in case you'd like a
We'll focus on what you are naturally good at and what others admire in you. Which qualities and skills do you already have to get your dream career, and which could use some extra development? How do your skills transfer to the current work environment? If you'd like, we have a "Feed-Forward Questionnaire" that you can hand out to friends and/or colleagues to ask for their input. We'll do several exercises and give you tools to improve your confidence and self-esteem.
How did you experience your previous relationships with colleagues and managers at work? Several of our clients had a really difficult time with certain individuals at their workplace, causing a very negative impact on their state of mind. This part of the Career Coaching process can focus on those challenging relationships, and also on the connections that have been very fruitful. Personal interaction is crucial for realising the career of your dreams. We look at how you relate and connect with others. What is your opinion about business politics and making sure you're seen by higher management? How and where could you use interpersonal skills and networking opportunities to proceed in your career?
What are your reasons for exploring a new career? Was it a voluntary choice to look for a new job or not? In some cases you might like a Career Coach to support you during times of emotional setbacks. When you have been made redundant, fallen victim to retrenchment, or been fired - maybe in your eyes for unfair reasons - you might like to work on your stress, sadness or resentment. Putting your time and energy (and in some cases even your heart and soul) into a company only to be left empty-handed, can be very difficult. We come across many people who had very challenging relationships with colleagues, HR or their managers, and this might have really affected your overall well-being. As your Career Coach, we are here to support you during this process, and if you chooise to, eventually help you in letting go, acceptancing and moving forward.
At Vitalis we come across many people who are not proud of their company or their job. They disagree with the company culture,(lack of) ethics, and behaviours of their bosses and/or colleagues. At Vitalis we believe that when our work is aligned with our inner self, we perform best and enjoy most. Defining your own values is about finding out what you stand for in life. What role does career play in the big picture of your life? What is important to you in your life and in your career? What requirements must your job fulfil in order to make you happy? We will do this via different Value Elicitation Exercises. We'll support you in choosing a career that truly belongs to you, in order for you to find your true vocation.
What type of barriers have you come across so far in your search for your dream job? You might be held back by obstacles in your internal world (like inner voices that sabotage the process, unconscious blocks, lack of confidence, stress, postponing, limiting beliefs etc) or in your external world (for example a lack of time, different priorities, lack of support, a challenging job market etc). During the coaching process we'll look at all these that apply to you, in order to overcome whatever it is that holds you back. We'll work on your motivation during potential setbacks and your faith in a positive outcome.
How do you make the best decisions when it comes to your career path? When we are at important crossroads in our lives, how do we choose the right option? Who makes the final decision: your head, your heart, your intuition, or do you please your environment and do what they want you to do? Looking at your Decision Making Process of past we start to understand when and how certain decisions have been successful. With these lessons learned we focus on your future career path and the choices ahead.
Many clients enjoy our Career Coaching Assignments to do at home between the sessions, which we'll evaluate and analyse together.
As we mentioned before, the above is a possible outline of the career coaching process and the purpose is to give you an idea about how we work. Subjects can be deleted or extended, depending on your unique situation. The exact approach will be adjusted according to your wishes and needs during the Career Coaching process.
